Sister Sisters with Izzi Early Education Staff

Happy National Siblings Day! Here at Izzi, we love to celebrate everyone, especially siblings. Siblings are like built-in best friends. You fight, laugh, and cry, but they’re always there for you no matter what. I caught up with some of Izzi’s siblings and asked them what they like and how much they know about each other. - Jonathan Oei, Development and Marketing Intern

Nermin and Firouz

  • Firoz: Hi, my name is Firoz Andafi. I've been working for the company for almost 5 years.

  • Nermin: I’m Nermin Askandafi, and I've been here for 9 years. I work with the preschoolers.

Krystal and Yessenia

  • Krystal: My name is Krystal Flores Espinoza, and I am the Home Based Manager for North County.

  • Yessenia: Yessenia Flores-Guzman and I am the site manager for South San Francisco

Question: Who’s the oldest and who’s the youngest?

Firoz: I’m the oldest one. Between me and Nermin we are 6 years apart.

Krystal: Yessenia is the oldest and I’m the youngest.

Question: What’s your favorite thing about each other?

Nermin: That's a hard question… Firouz, you’re the oldest…

Firoz: She is more outgoing. More active than me.


Krystal: For me my favorite thing about Yessenia is her strong will. She is very determined, and she always gets what she wants.

Yessenia: You know I love everything about her. She's amazing and I mean I realized she works hard for what she wants and she gets it.


Question: What is your favorite childhood memory of/with each other?

Nermin: There's a lot… I just remember annoying her a lot, haha.

Firouz: *Laughing*


Yessenia: My favorite memory with my sister is growing up and playing soccer. I think that always stays close to the heart and something we love. I love that it includes us all.

Krystal: I have to agree. The soccer days though I wasn't a much fan of playing, but I loved being able to watch my sister play.


Question: Do you know each other's favorite TV show?

Firoz: We both like our drama. We watch it every day.

Krystal: I think we have common tastes in tv shows. The Chicago series are each other's favorites, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.


Question: What were your childhood nicknames?

Firoz: Sometimes… haha like I’ll say Nermoonie.

Nermin: Haha yeah, we just shortened each other's names.

Krystal: For Yessenia it's Benya.

Yessenia: *Laughing* I’m not allowed to share her childhood nickname.

Krystal: We don't want it out there.. haha


Question: Is there a tradition you guys did as kids that you do now?

Firoz: We just love to enjoy being together and being with each other’s family and kids

Nermin: There’s nothing specific, but we just celebrate like every year.


Krystal: Family Photos! Was that what you were going to say?

Yessenia: You took it!

Krystal: We take family photos every year like clockwork. We gotten bigger as a family so there's a lot more members


Question: Describe your sibling in three words?

Firoz: Let me think about it…

Nermin: I think she’s like, how do you say it? She likes to overthink stuff, calm, and she's nutritious. She likes to take care of everybody.

Firoz: She's the same, if you need anyone she's always willing to help especially when I came. My English wasn't good, and she helped me out a lot.

Nermin: She's sweet and beautiful.

Firoz: Haha yeah, she’s sweet and beautiful .


Yessenia: Beautiful, smart, and outgoing

Krystal: Mine for Yessenia is motherly, determined, and relentless.


Question: Who is the funniest sibling?

Firoz: Nermin! Nermin!

Nermin: Her!


Krystal: I think we’re both funny in our own way.

Yessenia: I think it depends on the situation and day to be honest.
